About Ross
Ross Love is a classically trained musician with a keen interest in composition.
Ross is currently studying Music Scoring for Screen and Stage at Sheridan College, where he is being taught by renowned composers Charlie Finlay, Spencer Creaghan, and Allison Leyton-Brown.
Ross obtained his ARCT diploma in piano performance while studying in Orillia with Jacquie Dancyger Arnold and Blair Bailey. He graduated with distinction from the Honours Bachelor of Music Program at Wilfrid Laurier University where he studied composition with Dr. Glenn Buhr and Piano Performance with Dr. Joseph Ferretti. He is a recipient of the Heidt Performance Award and the H. Leslie Staebler Scholarship for outstanding piano performance.
Portfolio
Ross has composed numerous classical, modern, and orchestral pieces using a wide variety of instrumentation including solo piano, string quartet, and full symphony orchestra. His orchestrating ability, exceptional piano performance talent and musicality are evident in the first movement of his Piano Concerto No. 1. The recording, mixing and mastering of his modern rock albums, Ultraviolet and Escapade, demonstrate his skill and versatility as a multi-instrumental artist as well as his music editing ability to record and produce.
In 2020, Ross participated in the NYU Steinhardt School of Music Screen Scoring Summer Workshop where he received an introduction to all aspects of the modern media scoring industry and furthered his interest in composition for television and film. The workshop provided an opportunity to record and mix with top industry professionals and receive instruction and critique from Mark Snow, Michael Levine and NYU Steinhardt’s acclaimed film scoring faculty.
Ross is currently collaborating with Sheridan College film students and his recent work includes scoring the short films, “My Head is a Hive of Words that won’t Settle” directed by Tara Grundmanis, and “Home” directed and produced by David Webster and Vuk Milutinovic. Ross is also composing the soundtrack to the video game “Mousu”, in collaboration with Brock University Game Design and Development Students, Simon Cummings and Travis Duddy. Upcoming projects include the soundtrack for several Sheridan student animated short films.
Ross Love is a talented and skilled multi-instrumental musician and composer. He combines classical orchestration with modern contemporary harmonic structure to identify the unique texture of visual media and fully capture the emotion of any scene or setting. His future career goals include continuing to improve musical performance and compositional skills, networking to make connections with professionals in the media scoring industry, and gaining experience composing for advertising, entertainment, television and film.
